Data for Journalism
This book attempts to understand what data means for journalism
but also explore the implications of data reporting for data while the
control over data is tightened and transparency is weighed against
accountability. Today, data has become an inseparable element of
our lives and consequently is an invaluable resource for journalists.
Data refers to any content or information in digital format or able
to be digitised. It exists either in the form of binary codes as 1s and
0s or in other formats that can be converted to digital data using
techniques such as optical character recognition (OCR).
